Hilariously, I'm not fast enough to complain as it would hardly make a difference

If anyone saw me in testing, I sucked at Bathurst night or day.

Why can't we have this setup in WSC then... I like the rain.
Furi has a tendency to use insanely high changeability numbers, that's why it hasn't worked.

Started some testing at Bathurst last night. Got the Vette straight down to 19.0 in my third flying lap, so it should be competitive there. Disclaimer: For some reason I s$#% in the last sector and always lose half a second there, so middle 18's are surely possible in the Vette. The Mustang should also be very competitive there (as Jammy apparently already proved). I wasn't very confident with the Mustang's setup, so I think there's a lot more in there, if I find a better one. Did low 19's in it yesterday. It sure has got impressive power.

Turns out I was right though about one particular car. The Toyota seems to have a definite problem going up the hill - just not enough torque. As there are no improvements possible anymore in the power and weight department, some creativity might be needed. Because it has most of its power close to the red line, closer gears so that you can use 1st in the hairpins might gain it some speed. Hope that brings it closer.

Nah, that's not it.

Much of a good laptime at Bathurst comes from finding the right rhythm (especially in the Esses) and from hitting every apex and I'm not particularly consistent there for some reason, which is why I usually don't test there. (also because it's unlike any other track, so it won't give you conclusive results for the general balance of cars)

There's just so much you can do wrong there in one lap, it's a little frustrating. Every uphill corner in the first section you can lose loads of time, in the winding part on top you lose a lot, if you go in too fast in any of them (same in the Esses), and apparently you can lose a lot in the Chase, too (although I don't know how to make it better).

there's me... 4 year behind in the Toyota around Bathurst...

What did you get around Daytona @snowgt as I'd like to compare results.

Mid to low 57's for all cars (basically what qualifying pace was last season). Actually all are within 0.3s there for me in testing.

Will there be any test this Sunday? I really need to figure out this car, definitely not anything like the modern prototypes in the CORE series that's for sure!

Either this or V8's Sunday, the official pre season Daytona roar week after.

I found a better setup for the Mustang. (edited the complete setups post to include it: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...ans-entry-list-up.319047/page-6#post-10222341 )

It's much more stable than the previous one, so you can get on the power earlier and attack the corners much better.

I'm a bit worried though the Mustang might be too fast overall now. Did an 18.5 at Bathurst with it pretty much right away, so that explains Jammy's great times. Will test on other tracks.

I got the same.

Ok, tested all cars at Bathurst and all should be competitive. All should be able to do low 19's, if not 18's.

Advice to Toyota-drivers: You absolutely need to set the gears as close together as you can (use the ol' tranny-trick). The revs should never drop much below 7000. You can short-shift from 1st to 2nd, if you want (there it's more like a traction control), but in the higher gears you need to stay in the 7-8000 range. It makes a huge difference, especially on tracks like Bathurst (something like 1.5s).

Interesting. I'll have a look at the tune when I get the chance. :) Let's hope Shelby's 'Stang doesn't get gelded with a debilitating BoP adjustment, if you know what I mean...

Ahhh.....Hmmm....:indiff:

Any GT-P times for Spa yet?

I've tried to put together strengths & weaknesses for GT-O as a decision help:

Code:
              | Chassis |Top Speed| Accel | Brakes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corvette C3 | *** | * | *** | ***
Ferrari 250GTB| *** | ** | *** | **
Ferrari 250GTO| *** | * | ** | *
Dino 246GT | **** | ** | * | ***
Shelby Cobra | ** | * | **** | **
Shelby GT350 | ** | *** | *** | ***
Toyota 2000GT | *** | **** | * | **

Code:

Corvette C3 | *** | * | *** | *** Overall: 2.5
Ferrari 250GTB| *** | ** | *** | ** Overall: 2.5
Ferrari 250GTO| *** | * | ** | * Overall: 1.75
Dino 246GT | **** | ** | * | *** Overall: 2.5
Shelby Cobra | ** | * | **** | ** Overall: 2.25
Shelby GT350 | ** | *** | *** | *** Overall: 2.75
Toyota 2000GT | *** | **** | * | ** Overall: 2.5

Shelby 350 comes out tops but only just. everything else is evenly matched except the 250 GTO which is oddly lagging behind.

Hmm, I guess the reason the GTO doesn't come out too well is that compared to last season it would have lost a point in the chassis-department. It gained a little in acceleration though. Maybe I should add a column for "tyre & fuel wear", although I have no real data for all of the cars as I haven't really done long runs.

Bear in mind though that these are crude approximations and to some extent quite subjective. A difference in lap time should not be directly derived from the value of "1 point". I've tried to score every characteristic individually and relative to all cars in class. (There is no car with only 1 point for "chassis", because I felt none deserved it)

I did not count originally how many points the score was overall for each car, but it's certainly interesting. ;)

I actually thought that the Corvette had one of the fastest top ends :odd:
