All I'll say is that I understand your position but for me, the only way to make sense of the DLC is through the lens of Sophy. That's why it's PS5 only, that's why it's quite limited, that's what you're paying for.
And the DLC is not the full career mode most people (including me) wish they had put in game day one, it is "only" new events with a selection of cars and rewards.

So there is no point IMHO to be up in arms about the DLC and what people think should have been in game day one. DLC does not correct that and that is not the goal of DLC. It is additionnal content under a new form, some say it will serve as test bed for GT8 to replace the café.

I'm more than able to afford it, it's principle. And I appreciate the free updates, but they're not replacing what was missing are they?

The absolute core game of Gran Turismo is its events. Pretty much the entire consensus from reviewing GT7 has been that these were lacking so I don't think that's controversial to say, it's still a very good game, but it was missing it's heart, it's most fundamental feature. We should at least be able to agree broadly on that.

I don't care if they've given us additional content in the form of cars for free. To put that fundamental back in, a feature that we all expected from the base game, as a paid add-on for me is out of order. If anything, this should be free and the additional cars should be paid.

And you say it's not that serious, but it's this exact behaviour that means as an industry we get worse value for money than we could otherwise have. What's to stop EA taking out qualy sessions from the F1 game and reintroducing them as a paid upgrade? FIFA have pretty much done the same thing with career mode. Maybe GTA could be assault only and we pay extra to be able to use guns?

The crux of it is removing a fundamental from the game that we all expected at launch and then charging for it is out of order. No matter how many extraneous add-ons they may have given us for free.

Hope everyone enjoys it anyway, I'd like to make it clear I'm not trying to be entirely doom and gloom and happy to simmer down if it's killing anyone's vibe! If people feel like it's value for money for them, then by all means enjoy.
I think many would kind of agree with you, but know the ship has sailed as far as GT7 is concerned; its career is based on the cafe. The PP races, especially if lots of people pay for them, kinda signal a possible return to something better in GT8 imo. That Sophy is part of it is great too, negates the time-consuming need to build and balance cars for custom races. On the whole it's a good thing and I'm prepared to throw 25 quid at it to show I'd like more in future.

Edit: And it's pretty easy to ignore the bad elements here, it's generally just bad manners and oafishness; there aren't many wrong 'uns, and regulars know who they are and I'm sure roll their eyes when the usual suspects join the conversation, but there's a lot of info here and the moderation is good, so it's a worthwhile place to hang out if you spend a fair amount of time on the game imo.

It’s go time!

Edit: Aww, man. What the heck? It booted right up with no server connection business.

Edit2: Now the Server maintenance shows on the World Circuit screen.

Hey, I just noticed our Team logo appears in the Cinematic!
Valerio definitely deserves an extra for this

Noticing quite a change already with the physics; The RX7 Spirit R refuses to slide on the default Sports Hards, and the XBOW R is predictable and easily chuck-able. I like it!

Patience, young grasshopper. Still got about an hour before the maintenance fully ends.

Oh gawd! Please, Kaz, don't make me trawl through my whole garage yet again, adjusting finely-tuned pp settings on hundreds of cars...
Shoulda left 'em all stock.

Same, but I've only played about 2mins, with two different cars that I don't normally drive, using a dualsense which I don't normally use. But the grip feels far more predictable and more like actual rubber tyres.

edit
Nope, it's just the controller i'm not used to because it allows rapid full lock left to right.
Physics don't seem to have changed.

I wonder if they nerfed the glitched 600pp builds? Both Imprezzas, the little Cappuccino, the Brz swap etc.Time to adjust the tunes maybe, cant wait to have a bash after work tonight.

Hey, sometimes it’s early.

Tried spectating at Yas Marina with Gr.4 cars. Sat at a cut off track after the final corner. Watched the VR replay. The plane passing overhead was cool. All the sounds were awesome as usual. 8am, placed in the shadow of the pit building, made me feel like I was at the real circuit. Gonna be good fun!
