GTPlanet Community Spotlight: Fast, Furious, and Poisonous

16601725120_8239b8e3db_c

The Community Spotlight has proven itself to be quite the undertaking these past several weeks, and it’s key that the community has its involvement, otherwise it’s simply me picking and choosing what I like and that’s not what this should be about. So I, T-12, need your help in making the Community Spotlight everything it should be. No, this isn’t an impromptu presidential campaign, and no I’m not pointing at my screen right now so you can stop looking around your room and scaring your loved ones.

Who’s ready for the spotlight?

GTPlanet Picture of the Week

Gran Turismo 6

This week’s image, recommended to us by GT_Racer22 and courtesy of ShaolinMasta, features the beautifully-imaginative Chaparral 2X VGT racer passing the world by at incredible speeds.

If you like what you’re seeing and have a suggestion for next week’s featured image, start a conversation with me, entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week” and fill it to your heart’s content with suggestions and they’ll be featured in upcoming Community Spotlight articles. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.

GTPlanet Gallery of the Week

This takes the concept of the “Picture of the Week” and takes it one step further by celebrating an entire user gallery.

This week’s featured gallery is Axel Mortaigne’s GT6 Gallery and is brought to us by its proprietor, MeteorzApple. Opened on the 13th of August in 2014, Axel’s gallery approaches GTPhotography by taking the utmost advantage of improved color palettes, crisp lines, and artistic approach that is most unique to this gallery.

You can find Meteorz gallery in all of its glory right here, with the latest update this past Saturday.

GTPlanet Thread of the Week – Apricot Hill Evolution From GT2 to GT6

Gran Turismo is no stranger to evolution and the same could be said for the franchise’s more cherished tracks, whether they’re real locations or fantasy – if there are differences you can rest assured that the eagle-eyed among us will notice these changes and bring them forth.

The thread put together by our very own fifomaniak chronicles the evolution of Apricot Hill across Gran Turismo 2-4 and its return in 6 – all while using the same vehicle across all comparisons, a Mazda RX-7. Make your way to the thread and let us know what’s different!

Driveclub – Lamborghini Veneno Gameplay Video!

As highlighted in last week’s Spotlight, March is proving to be one of the best months for Driveclub fans yet. The video above showcases the Lamborghini Veneno which will be featured in the Lamborghini Expansion Pack that releases next week Tuesday, March 24th.

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious  – Releases March 27th

https://youtu.be/RxlYVzo0pf0

Beginning next week Friday, March 27th, Forza fans will be able to enjoy the thrilling driving experiences found with Forza Horizon 2 combined with the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise in what will be an original adventure filled with high-speed action.

In this standalone, open-world expansion players will be put behind the wheels of more than 11 vehicles synonymous with the movie franchise – including some new rides from the upcoming “Furious 7”. The expansion will be available at no cost for a limited two-week period, from March 27th to April 10th, for the Xbox One and Xbox 360; after this, the expansion will cost $10.

If the pack is downloaded within the two-week window will continue to enjoy the expansion without restriction.

Keeping Gran Turismo 6 Fresh

Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit_10

There comes a point when we begin to hit what many refer to as “the wall”, the point at which something is no longer able to maintain interest levels; nearing the dreaded point of no return. This thread, put together by our own JoaoSilva, asks a straight-forward question: How do you keep Gran Turismo 6 fun?

Maybe you have an unorthodox method of keeping the game interesting, and if you do, stop by the thread here and let us know your secrets!

GTPlanet Tune of the Week

Gran Turismo 6

This week’s featured tuned is an oddity indeed, coming to us courtesy of DolHaus of Haus of Flying Daggers, and features the 1992 Mazda Autozam AZ-1 tuned to compete in the world of 400PP events.

If it’s an oddity that you’re after to give yourself a thrilling challenge, there’s no doubt that you’ll want to stop by the thread and afford it the opportunity to wow you!

The Last Word

Last week season’s opening proved to go exactly as I thought it would, albeit with Mercedes being even more dominant than I thought, so there’s that. Rumor has it that Red Bull are threatening to leave the sport, meanwhile McLaren is toughing it out with an absolute dog of a combination. The marriage between Honda and McLaren hasn’t come into full-force just yet but it’s funny how that works out, wouldn’t you say?

Speaking of rumors, there’s another rumor that Hideo Kojima is parting ways with Konami once work on Metal Gear Solid V has been completed. I haven’t known how to react to this news all day long, and guess what, I still don’t know how to react. If this isn’t yet another ploy in Kojima’s arsenal; the ploys we all know and love him for, then this is huge news. What happens from here? Will he concentrate on a new IP? I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.

That’s about all out of me this week, so if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go and watch the clock while asking myself “Is it Tuesday yet?”. I need that Lamborghini Expansion for Driveclub like you wouldn’t even believe. Oh, and Knight Rider still rocks.

Until next week, keep racing!

Well done, T-12. I totally enjoy these spotlights as they are – hopefully this community we are will have productive contributions to add, but they spotlights are great as they are now.

Heres how to make the game fun again T-12. Give me Speed Test please PD. Please make the transmission ratios like they were in GT5. It helps me define how I fine tune and setup my gearing more precisely. Also make GT6 like GT5 where I can tune my cars for top speed or drag and know that when I change the toe, camber, suspension, ride height and aerodynamics, and weight I know my car is going to be affected by changing each of these parameters. This will make me play GT6 again. Because the AI is poor and career is not worth playing.

  3. FS7

When somebody creates a thread asking how to make the game fun that’s a sign something is terribly wrong with the game. I wish PD would add proper races offline, there’s only so much one can do in time trial, having all options that are already in the game available in arcade mode would give the game infinite replay value.

FH2 Fast & Furious for free is definitely something worth checking out.

  4. GT_Racer22

I’d like to second what BBR said below, thank you T-12 for bringing this back!!! It is very welcomed and I’m glad the Rewind has returned! Can’t wait to see what future additions may include!!!

  5. Jack The Ripper

If driveclub had customization features, I would have already purchased it. Sony and Pd should be thanking whatever deity they pray to that the forza series is a xbox exclusive.

  6. Baron Blitz Red

Just wanted to say thank you @Terronium-12 for bringing back the weekly series!!! I was addicted to it before and find myself getting back to same state again. Thanks for the awesome amount of work you put into it, it’s greatly appreciated!
    Cheers

Man Driveclub looks incredibly realistic. Hats off to their developers, IMHO they beat GT, Forza, pCARS in terms of photo realistic graphics.

    1. Halcyon925

GT7 isn’t even out yet, and that game’s Photomode can mostly beat Driveclub’s. And did you ever consider that the images of Driveclub were edited in Photoshop? Just like 90% of the GT photos on this site. Without the help of Photoshop, GT5 (GT6 doesn’t look as good) and Driveclub are about on par in terms of picture quality.

    2. Halcyon925

Is it possible that the images look similar to me since I can only see them on a phone screen? I don’t own a computer, so I have no idea what major differences there could be that I cannot see clearly.

    3. Johnnypenso

DriveClub does look gorgeous, can’t argue with that. Why does it have to be an arcade game!?!?! *bangs head*

    4. Johnnypenso

And of course I didn’t say it keeps the game for being awesome did I? Assume much? Is it ok with you if arcade games simply don’t appeal to me?
