GTPlanet’s GT6 Track of the Week: Circuit Park Zandvoort

It’s that time again! In between Jordan’s coverage of SEMA – take a look at the finalists if you haven’t yet, before a winner is crowned – we’re delivering another selection hand-picked by the GTPlanet staff from our constantly-growing GT6 Track Database.

Zandvoort_v2This week’s pick comes to you from Porsche Active Suspension Management, otherwise known as @PASM. His selection is a replica of the Dutch Zandvoort circuit, crafted by hayami3000.

Much like the first Track of the Week (Sebring International Raceway), Zandvoort is built on the Eiffel Flat theme. Since the real track only has a maximum elevation change of 15 metres, this replica is surprisingly accurate. Extra credit to hayami3000 for ensuring the corners are sufficiently banked, too: it makes the first corner, Tarzan, much more viable for passing, just as in real life. Picking the right line through the bumpy, heaving Hunzerug and Rob Slotemaker corners (numbers 4 and 5, respectively) can be a challenge, and the dive into the formerly-named Audi S (corners 10 and 11) requires commitment. All in all, the track is a fast, fun recreation.

In the Assetto Corsa forum, the sadist @Johnnypenso is running this week’s Time Attack Challenge on the real Zandvoort with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. It is an extremely difficult race track; Tight, cambered and blind turns make this a challenging circuit to remain on the throttle. It looks like the GT6 Track Maker version follows the outline of Zandvoort very nicely. It’s too bad Track Maker doesn’t allow more freedom to truly make the course accurate to the original.

I gave that a try a while back. I think I made it public, so if you want to give it a try and give me feedback, it would be very much appreciated :)

That Zandvoort is really not that bad, considering TPE limitations it looks pretty damn close.
    Thanks for the headsup.
