GTPlanet’s GT6 Track of the Week: Valleyside Raceway

It’s time for the second GT6 Track of the Week, where GTPlanet staff members share their favorite custom tracks in our GT6 Track Database!

uGnGILsJE5WJMnEuq_0Last week’s pick was my own, which featured this impressive replica of Sebring International Raceway.

This week’s selection by Kyle P. (SlipZtrEm) showcases something a bit different – a fantasy circuit by GTPlanet user Formidable he calls “Valleyside Raceway“.

Here’s what Kyle had to say about it:

“It’s a lovely, flowing track. If Valleyside were the sort of track you heard on the radio instead of drove on, it’d be the result of getting stuck between the Road America and Cadwell Park stations, hearing both simultaneously.

“It has the former’s length and deliberate turn placement, with the latter’s rollercoaster feel. Better suited to faster cars – my Elise Race Car lost about 3mph on the long uphill climb that starts the track – it’s deceptively challenging, with punishing downhill braking zones and a few mid-corner humps that can upset a car lacking commitment.

“I particularly like the S-bends after the first serious turn, flowing through before diving down for the tight right-hander.”

This is a fantastic track. I know that many on the GT5 boards were all meh on the Course Maker, and it was too basic. But take it away and listen to everyone “PD FAIL” at them. ;D

I hadn’t expected anything nearly this powerful in CM2. What you can do with it is amazing, and this track is a testament to the capability CM2 offers as well as Formidable’s talent as a track designer. This is definitely one to add to the collection – of all of 30. I’m hoping that we can have a bigger library in GT7, because even 50 in GT5 wasn’t enough for me.

This track is pretty good..well designed. My problem is with PD why give us track maker, when you can only load 1 track online. Seems pretty pointless to me…You have to create a new room every time you want to change the track. Not looking forward to GT7 at all..if this is signs to come. PD FAIL.

I’ve really enjoyed racing on this track, more then some of the real tracks on GT6(and outside of GT6). A good amount of variation to keep it entertaining all the way around.

A suggestion: it would be better if we could see the layout of the track directly on the browse page (even if it is small), rather than to go in the download page of the resource: the tracks are so many that it takes a lot of time…

The track looks so fast :) I love these kinds of, as you say, sweeping tracks. Downhills that aren’t about to turn into jumps and things like that. If only you were allowed to add a lot better track-side detail, it’d be a superb track to have as an actual GT track out of the box. Great job Formidable !

Thanks man! I actually changed the layout on Track Editor before this, so I’m hoping it transfers to GT7

Had a couple runs last night in my Enzo and A110 – love this track. It’s quick and there’s a couple if tricky little gradient changes to catch you out. Good effort Formidable!

Now I really want to make a track to impress even Johnnypenso.

(Boy, am I getting stuck on Johnny this month. My reputation as a trickster character’s screwimg me up).

I was trying to mimic Koro-sensei’s fourth wall breaking in the manga. (Assassination Classroom) I’m weird like that.
