This week is being dominated by Gran Turismo, and as you sit back waiting for things to unfold, Polyphony have flipped the switch and let loose the latest batch of Seasonal Events in Gran Turismo 6. This week’s events are a combination of super lap and drift trial challenges, featuring racing machines from two different disciplines and street legal metal with their own worth to prove.

We’re now less than 24 hours away from the GT Sport reveal in London. The anticipation is palpable, as even Polyphony has stoked the fire with their brand-new official Snapchat account. Here at GTPlanet, GT Week celebrations continue unabated!

First revealed in the final Developer Diary entry discussing the 1.5 update alongside the future prospects of the title, the Japanese Car Pack introduces a number of vehicles from the Land of the Rising Sun as has been requested by the community.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably on Snapchat – one of the hottest social networks out there. It’s about to get a bit hotter, as the Polyphony Digital guys are launching a new official Snapchat account to share content about Gran Turismo games and events.

A good driving song can make a boring journey into a memorable one, or a good trip into one of the greats. By that same token, while Gran Turismo is fondly remembered for the driving, there’s a lot of memories tied to the audio cues. A song will stick with you, intertwining itself with the game until you can’t separate the two. To this day, I’m still annoyed every time I walk into a Mazda dealership and this catchy tune isn’t playing.

A new content update for Forza Motorsport 6 is now available introducing a number of brand new features, complimentary of today’s NASCAR Expansion Pack. Weighing in at 1.45 GB, the largest weigh-in to date, the features have been created to improve the in-game racing experience wholesale. While these features are being introduced with today’s expansion, all of the features will be available to everyone regardless of whether or not the NASCAR Pack has been purchased.

Here we go! As announced earlier today, we’re celebrating GT Week here at GTPlanet. No, it’s not a recognized holiday, at least not yet. With the London reveal of GT Sport only days away, a look back at the series’ high points is a great way to pass the time, and remind ourselves what got us hooked in the first place.

If you’re like us, you can’t wait for the big GT Sport event in London this Thursday and Friday. In an unprecedented move, Polyphony is making the first playable showing of the game open to the public, and if you were lucky enough to snag some of the tickets GTPlanet had to give out last week, you’ll get to take part in the festivities.

One reality against another – that is exactly how we could describe this latest split-screen comparison video, meticulously prepared by Youtube user Marcel Pfister. His Mixed Reality gameplay and tutorial videos (previously highlighted here and here) show off the advantages of owning an Oculus Rift VR headset, a device that could soon change the experience of playing a video game tremendously, driving games in particular. Just look at the level of immersion, all without going far from your sofa!

Fans of American stock car racing will soon have a new option on consoles: Forza 6 will include them in an upcoming expansion. As we reported last week, the upcoming pack (the second of its kind, after the Porsche Expansion Pack) should have 24 cars from the current 2016 season, alongside Homestead-Miami Speedway, as well as new HUD features for drafting and car spotting.

Many consider June 2008 the birth of the ‘Gamer-to-Racer’ movement – this was the starting date of the immensely popular and successful GT Academy. Before the Sony-sponsored initiative however, there were pioneers who made the jump from digital to reality through different racing simulations. One of these drivers is Mark Drennan, a sim-racer who started off on the classic ‘Grand Prix Legends’ and has recently obtained a drive in the Battery Tender MX5 Cup. The story of how Drennan got his big break is exciting as it is inspiring for the racing simulation community.

As you may have heard by now, Gran Turismo Sport will be fully unveiled at a massive media event taking place in London on Thursday, May 19th. The second day of the event, on May 20th, will be open to limited members of the public – and the GTPlanet community!

The veil of silence has finally been lifted; Gran Turismo Sport is emerging from the shadows at a special event to be held in downtown London, at the Copper Box Arena, next week on the 19th and 20th of May.

Bang the gongs, cue the avalanche of GIF’s – it’s happening! After over six months of silence, GT Sport is ready for its first gameplay showing. As you’d expect of a company that has announced a title at a racetrack (GT6), and taken over an entire town for a release party (GT6 again), Polyphony is pulling out all the stops, showcasing the PS4 title in downtown London, at the Copper Box Arena, a former Olympic site.

Forza Motorsport 6 is, quite comfortably, the biggest current-generation console racing game in terms of cars and tracks. Launching with over 460 cars, that number has swollen by over 100 through a combination of free and paid addition (okay, mostly the latter). Most recently, a Hot Wheels-sponsored pack brought some new toys, while a leak about a potential NASCAR expansion could see the vehicle count crest the 600 mark.

Need For Speed’s DLC support has come to an end. In the 7th post on the ‘Under The Hood’ blog, Ghost Games confirm last month’s Speedlist update will be the last content-based support for the game.
