Red Bull 5G Competition to Find Japan’s Best GT6 Gamer

red-bull-5g-2014

For the third year in a row, Red Bull has selected a Gran Turismo game for use in their “5G Challenge” – a high-profile competition the company hosts in Japan to find the country’s best gamers among 5 different genres: first-person shooters, racing, sports, fighting, and puzzle.

red-bull-5g-2014-1This year’s qualifier will be hosted as a special Seasonal Event within GT6 for Japanese players, available through June 7, 2014.

As some of you may recall, the 5G competition has brought new content to the game in the past, in the form of the “Red Bull X2010 5G” model – a special version of the car with reduced aerodynamic components and a disabled suction fan.

For those of you eligible to compete, review the formal announcement and the Red Bull 5G website for official rules and information on how to register. Good luck to all GTPlanet members competing!

I hate how Japan always gets special treatment for Gran Tourismo. What was with them only getting the chrome line cars in GT5? Some of the things they do is so biased its not even funny. One example is that they manage to add more and more GTRs while we still don’t have a single Ferrari GT3 car. One of the most recent things I’ve noticed is that the Audi R8+ GT3 handles terribly, even though the thing has won practically every GT3 competition out there. The Nissan GTR GT3 however handles perfectly when really it has a terrible weight balance and the car hasn’t even came close to the success of the Audi. Common Kaz. Spread things out a bit.

What the hell ate you talking about?
The chromeline cars were collectors edition bonuses.
      Wait, what’s Gran Tourismo?

To be fair, GT6 hasn’t add many Japanese cars other than a couple of Super GT cars and just a handful of econo boxes. Most new cars are Corvettes, muscle cars and European sport cars. It’s a vast improvement, but the car list still needs work though.

Well, if ya gotta give everyone a whiff of your stink-foot by taking off your shoes in public, at least they match your red shirt.

Theres not goin to be a course maker or a new track gt6 was suppose to get it on 25th february but no updates or any news on it

So, PD misses one track DLC date and you see that as proof that the course maker isn’t coming…ever? Also, as far as I was aware, it was just dated ‘February’ and not anything so specific as the 25th.

What!? A widely celebrated Japanese racing franchise, created by a Japanese man, developed by a Japanese studio will be used in a Japanese video game tournament!? I, for one, am shocked.

    1. SZRT Ice

A Japanese video game tournament held by an American company. Don’t leave that part out. RedBull could’ve chosen to partner with Microsoft/T10 instead of PD for their RedBull X1/x2010-2014 projects.

I doubt the other genre’s for shooting, sports, fighting*, and puzzle* are all Japanese. Likely just the fighting and possibly the puzzle.

But more so, why is any of this even relevant?
