A recent report from a hedge fund has suggested a new sales figure for Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Sport. It’s a big one too, with the copy total coming in at an estimated 8 million.

It’s been around nine months now since Gran Turismo Sport first launched. Following a steady start, Polyphony Digital’s racer has hit a new milestone.

One of the most surprising tidbits of news to come out of Germany this weekend is an update on Gran Turismo series sales figures. The GT World Tour is happening at the Green Hell right now, and the pre-race show dropped some interesting figures.

The latest sales rankings from the UK show another strong performance for the racing genre. Courtesy of GfK Chart-Track, the list (running up to December 23) shows the usual suspects continue to place in the Top 20.

It’s no secret that the recent increase in GT Sport copies sold in the UK has been impressive. Claims of an 800%+ boost in week-on-week sales numbers during Black Friday only told half the story.

Despite a large software falloff in the wake of Black Friday, two sim racing titles placed in the UK Top 10 sellers list last week. Gran Turismo Sport and Forza Motorsport 7 continue their strong performance in the region as seen in previous weeks.

The dust has settled on another Black Friday in the UK. Despite being a more recent phenomenon in the region, consumers have snapped up the event big time. Sales this year were more intense than ever with the gaming industry seeing a huge spike in terms of purchases. This week’s top 10 seen an impressive jump for GT Sport with nice placements for Forza Motorsport 7 and Need For Speed Payback to boot.

Market research group NPD has released October 2017’s US video game sales rankings. It was a busy month for releases across the board but racing titles continued to sell through the month with the arrival of two hyped up releases. However, the results turn out to be quite surprising and not what you might have expected.

It looks like GT Sport is off to a solid sales start, if its first week physical tally in the United Kingdom is anything to go by.
