If I had to point out something I wish it was better thought for Spec III in terms of car selection, that would be the choice made for the new generic F1 car.

Did I dislike it? Of course not, but considering we already have the F3500-A, this new choice seems too similar to it. As far as people can tell, this new car is based on 1993-1994 chassis, while the F3500-A is something around 1991-1992.

And this is the point, that’s too close. If they had come up with something referencing the late 90s or the 2000s, that would be way more interesting in my opinion, as it also would make the new addition feel a little fresher.
I liked PD's decision and thought it was a smart move. I've always been a proponent of the idea that whenever PD adds a car from a specific category, they should also include one or two rival cars from the same category. This helps prevent a specific car from feeling out of place among vehicles from different eras or classes. For example, if they added the Ferrari 296 GT3, they should also include the McLaren 720 GT3 or another car. This would greatly increase the fun and immersion of the game.

In this particular case, the F-3500-A, inspired by the FW14B and MP4/8, would benefit from having a worthy rival, such as a replica of the Benetton B193. In fact, it is quite possible that GT Auto will be able to offer customization options for the noses and rear wings of the Jordan 192 and Tyrrell 020.

If there was ever concrete proof that this subforum has meant absolutely nothing for the last 9 years... :P

We have plenty of four door sedans. What’s lacking are full on FR and FF road car sedans.

In Spec II we got the 190 E. The 500 E from the datamine is a possibility and the M5. Along with the 2010 Impreza, those would complete the sedans from the datamine.

The ELANTRA N is a step forward for FF four door sedans, which puts it in a class of two with the Citroën DS21. With not many similar type sedans on the market today, other than Accord Type R and Euro R versions, I don’t know what PD would choose, if they were to add another FF four door sedan.

There's plenty of Aussie FR cars I'd love to see. Even if they do have the steering wheels on the wrong side. ;)

Aside from Sedans, another category that's a bit lacking is Roadsters imo, or open-top cars in general.
A few cool additions I would like to see in this category:

-Datsun Sports 2000
-Mazda MX5 NB
-BMW Z3
-BMW 507
-Sunbeam Tiger
-Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider
-Opel Speedster
-Lotus Elan
-TVR Chimera
-MGB
-Ferrari F355 Spider

I'd rather they give us roof-related options for all the cars already in the game.

Why can I not take the roof down on the S2000? Or the put the roof up on the MX5?

I bet PD just forgot :ouch: or decided to model them all top down and the S2000 was already modelled with it up.

People on reddit and X have been requesting a new race car for long time now, so they're listening, but maybe no to GTP as much.

That subforum has been DEAD for at least 8 years now

Wasn’t it implemented around the time the PitStop blog was a thing?

My guess is we may get more info of Spec III in November, when round 3 of the GTWS starts in Los Angeles.

I doubt we will get any info earlier than that, and we will likely only get the full details in the GTWS finals in Japan.
I’ll probably go to the event hoping that’s the case, will check on tickets tonight

Put it this way, by date of entry, it's on the 10th page of car suggestions and would have been a top entry at that time and many members(including me) still didn't vote.
Sure, members still had wished and talked it up for the past 2-3 years.

We know PD have a good relationship with Ferrari. With all the cars being added since GT Sport.
Let's say it was just completed at the time of the Spec II trailer(rendered, sound and road tested). If we give it nine months, it'd be interesting to find out the beginnings. What lead up to discussions of its inclusion? Where was the car sourced? Ferrari? Privately owned? Race team?

I gotta say, as much as I'm excited for the new cars and tracks, I'm just as excited for everything else that's been mentioned. I wonder what those updates to Sport Mode could be? Maybe we'll get new wheels in GT Auto, too!

That would be a cool option too👍
I find it especially weird on the C3 Corvette, where we have a Coupe and a Convertible version, but the Convertible has its top closed. Sure they have different specs, but still whats the point?
Basically we just have 2 coupes in the game..

Or 15 new engine swaps at once...?

The Car Suggestions forum opened in January 2014, during the era of GT6. Also back when it was relevant, there were people who used it to farm likes/reputation.

I'm not optimistic that PD will allow us to drive on all the track variations if Road Atlanta only has one option :grumpy::(.

Can we have Suzuka West back?
The "variants" of Road Atlanta aren't all that different than the full layout. The variants at Yas Marina are quite a bit more different from each other.

I very much doubt we'll get more than 1 layout for the new tracks. Hell, even Eiger (a PD creation) only has the shortest layout available. If we do get other layouts, I'm thinking we'll be lucky to get one variation. It just takes so long to create tracks these days. If it wasn't created before the games initial launch, it seems additional layouts fall by the wayside to foster quicker release schedules. As always, I hope I'm wrong... but I doubt it.

Yas Marina we'll get additional layouts for, I'm pretty confident. Not every configuration, it's a track where there's lots of different bits to it, but the North and maybe Corkscrew layouts seem pretty nailed on to me. South Circuit I'd be much less confident on because it doesn't use the main pitlane, though the short Maggiore and Alsace layouts show they can do multiple pitlanes for one environment.

Eiger I don't think is all that relevant because the "variations" there are really completely different tracks, it's much more of a Watkins Glen Short/Grand Valley South type deal.

If they add that upcoming Toyota Nascar car that would be such a power move from PD and Toyota lol - that would explain those new Toyota banners :D

Or maybe those GR banners are for the "LFA successor"? If that thing gets revealed at the end of this month or early November, in the Japan Mobility Show, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that car were to arrive in a not-too-distant update...

Thanks for this! I really enjoyed the lighting presentation PD did recently, will be reading this!

EDIT: Didn't realise it was in Japanese but still very cool! I'll translate it where I can. Also this is the raw PowerPoint presentation file which is really cool.

EDIT 2: There's an English version from GDC in 2024, it's slightly different, but seems mostly the same:

The audio that Stephan mentions is on slide 60 here, but it will only be playable in the PPTX version. You should be able to open it in PowerPoint and Apple Keynote.

The rule with "pitlanes" is the game needs somewhere not on the track itself that it can auto-drive a full field out of in lobbies/qualifying. This does not necessarily need to be a pitlane - Catalunya Rallycross's starting area counts, for instance. But it does need to exist, which is why we didn't get Red Bull Ring Club or the Catalunya layout that's just the bit you don't drive in the National layout, and it does need to be able to hold a full grid, which is why Suzuka West is never coming back.

Yas Marina's southern pitlane more than meets that requirement, so I don't think the South layout is out of the question, and obviously the North layout is just your standard shorter layout that uses the same pitlane.

You are way too confident about layouts being included. As I said, PD haven't been including much in the way of extra layouts in post launch track additions. I think you just really want them. There doesn't seem to be any indication that we will be getting them. Furthermore, the extra layouts of Eiger are not "completely different tracks". They are branches off the main (short) layout, like all optional layouts. Furthermore, PD don't have to scan anything to add additional layouts for Eiger. They DO have to scan all the different layouts for Yas Marina in order to add them (accurately). Now, it could be that PD have taken the extra time to scan every possible layout, and that's why this has taken so long (around a year and a half come December), but it also seems about right (timeline) considering they had to create 2 different real life circuits (2 tracks a year seems pretty on brand). So, in my mind it's doubtful we will get anything other than the main GP circuits. MAYBE one additional layout at best, and that's a stretch honestly.

PD have added layouts to existing circuits in the past so I would guess the main track would be added first and then maybe all the extra layouts.

True, but PD did add layouts to Catalunya and Nurburgring after launch. Now, granted, the layouts added were pretty significant (no chicane Catalunya and the proper Endurance layout of Nurburgring) versus the random club variants of Road Atlanta, for instance.

and it does need to be able to hold a full grid, which is why Suzuka West is never coming back.

Not sure I agree with this part, since the Catalunya Rallycross layout only allows a maximum of 16 cars (which is already pretty crazy). If they want to add the Suzuka West layout, they could just reduce the maximum number of cars to whatever number they want.

Suzuka West does have 30 grid start boxes though....

They have been though? Watkins Glen has a short layout, Grand Valley has a short layout, Lake Louise has multiple variants. Road Atlanta is really the only one that has a viable short layout that they didn't add.

They're very different scenarios. Sure, one of them uses some of the short track, but the Eiger trails were very big courses. Definitely way more work than making sure you scan one or two extra connecting roads while scanning Yas Marina.
