Cool feature. It’d be cool if we could see what SOPHY is doing in comparison. Sure, it’s a bit tricky with Boost options and rubberbanding, but since SOPHY has learned certain tracks in certain cars, I’d still find it interesting to explore. If it were possible SOPHY could be used in that way.

The base AI is not terrible. It’s not insanely fast, but it’s the best it’s been in GT. I think people who feel it’s totally inadequate are in the minority, as in, they’re probably high skilled players. It could be faster, but it races semi decently and isn’t super slow.
The base AI is IMO much worse than in GT3-4-5-6, because it often drives straight into my rear when I Am forced to slow down on La Sarthe because of penalty of driving off the track. How is that possible? I should emphasize that this happens when the base AI is more than 10-30 seconds behind me, it still often drives straight into me unless I place my car almost off the road on either the right or the left side. While it's not difficult to avoid it is proof of very bad AI compared to decent AI in GT3-4-5-6.

MI can’t wait to play on those two new tracks and try all those new cars with ray tracing at 40 fps, and after all, my 99,000,000 credits have to be useful for something. I’m going to jump straight to the new maximum level as soon as Spec 3 launches. Do you think we’ll be able to go up to level 60, 70, 80, 90, maybe even 100? I guess the two missing cars are either the Clio Williams and the Clio RS 3, or the 205 T16 and the Porsche 935. Fingers crossed. I’d love a bonus license too, something like an E License for electric cars. I’m also thinking about taking a day off so I can fully enjoy this amazing experience.
50 millions here, trying to get as much as possible before update. While playing other games as well aside

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Spec III’s Data Logger Shown in Action

Polyphony Digital has revealed more on its new Data Logger feature, heading into Gran Turismo 7 soon in the December “Spec III” update...

“ which appears to allow you to load up a single lap from any replay”

It would be nice if PD prevented the trend of top leaderboard drivers from not exposing their laps. It should be that if you don’t have a recorded lap then no LB position for you.

About La Sarthe, I can’t contest that because I haven’t seen/experienced it. I’ll take your word for it. They definitely shouldn’t be doing that.

In general though, I think they are the best in the series, even talking about awareness outside of the situation you mentioned.

GT3/4/5/6 AI have little awareness, less than 7. They’re not perfect in 7 but go back to the older games - in the PS2 games they’ll hit you if you’re on their line.

In 5 and 6 they have more awareness but they’re slow and back out of a move or if you’re squeezing them, they back out sooner than GT7’s AI.

From my experience (GT3 onwards) 7’s AI is the best in all areas except pace and that’s because GT3 had strong rubber band.

The fact that the AI sometimes hits you when you're serving a penalty does not prove that the AI is bad. Especially not in comparison to GT3-6, because if I recall correctly those games didn't have that kind of penalty system. So you end up with a comparison of what the AI in GT7 does when you're serving a penalty versus what the AI in GT3-6 does when you're not serving a penalty.

Also, the fact that we're talking about 10-30 seconds worth of penalties makes me think we're talking about wet weather and slick tyres. That's pretty much the only condition I can think of where you can accumulate that big of a penalty over a single lap. That might also explain why the AI is crashing into you when you serve your penalty - they're probably aquaplaning.

The thick and thin lines seem to be referring to the car either speeding up (thin) or slowing down (thick).

Added: Useful, because you can see earlier/later braking points visually from the top.

At least it's an ongoing project that they're invested in improving. And didn't they tone it down after the first version smoked the best players in the world?
Don't know about that. They just threw a 2.0 on there at some point when a 0.5 would have been more appropriate. It doesn't even work on every track or with every car yet.

Right now they are working about bringing it to more tracks I guess, but are they improving the AI and how it behaves itself? I'm not sure.

I'm sure it's gonna benefit from better hardware on the PS6, while it's trained on their servers it still has to run on local hardware, so a better CPU and more memory should help.

Polyphony aren’t doing anything with Sophy. It’s a Sony AI development

A question about the Mine's: is it the same car that was in the PS3 games, or is it a different tuned R34 GT-R that happens to also be based on the N1 spec so has the same name?

Seems to be a demo car that Mine's restored back in 2021 then showcased at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.

So a different Mine's R34 compared to the 2006 car.

Scroll down to the end 😆

I think the data logger has been underrated and overlooked in this update. Some may say for good reason due to the pure content coming. But, IMO this data logger will be a game changer for many. I already know it will help me a ton with the 'little' things that are worth those extra tenths or hundredths per lap.
