Gran Turismo 7 Spec III’s Data Logger Shown in Action

Polyphony Digital has revealed more on its new Data Logger feature, heading into Gran Turismo 7 soon in the December “Spec III” update...
The thing looks promising.

I hope they will add the steering wheel input, I think it's a big absence in the current exposed data

and also hope the fix the different brake pattern shown differently in the real time data against the recorded data.

Exactly my thought too, I'd love to compare my steerinf wheel input compared to some ghost, especially in rally TTs.

I'm going to write an AI tool to scrape the data of the fast laps, analyse it and compare it to mine and tell me how to whup everyone else's arse on track.
I don’t think you’ll need a scrape, I’m sort of expecting this to be shared between users

Road America and their pick for another one 😄

I would really really like to see RA in GT7.
Regarding the Road America theme, I'd love to see the Cannon Ball race route or Route 66.
It would be great as a stage race, but it could also be driven in one go, with fuel stops.

I like how the cars on the trace are actually the car that was used.

That's a detail that's totally unnecessary - they totally could have got away with it just being arrows - but neat that they went to the effort for it. I'm curious how that will look with applied liveries.

I’m faster with a controller/TV than with wheel/psvr2 that I started using a few months ago. Will use it to compare and see why that is, cool to have this data visualized.

Any hard reliable news on when this will drop in December, I'm beginning to see speculation videos on YT and taking with grains of salt that it will be in December...

We know it's going to be December, but like mentioned above the rumor is December 4th as to give the two weeks for the Polestar TT. They typically drop updates on the third Thursday of the month, but not only is that Xmas day it'd completely negate the aforementioned TT.

it says Dec 4 in the description on the trailer video on the offical Playstation YT channel

As for the car tickets, first it is just stupid game design that we can't buy all cars if we have the credits, at least after reaching level 50! Second, I'm playing with 5 accounts/usernames and I still lack 50-100 million credits to buy all the cars in car collection menu on all accounts, but if I did the same play time on only one account, I would have all the cars I could buy unless an invitation was needed! And some car ticket invitations I have only one of out of 5 accounts! I've been playing since 2023, or 2024 several times every week. I only bought a PS5 after it dropped to around €500 since the pandemic openings.

Forget the money. I agree that the choice of cars is a lot only because they're not all useful, its a shame to have various cars with precious few pre made events for them. Custom Races is where I have my fun now. I created 20 different liveries on about 13 different cars and made my own local touring car 20 laps 20 cars set up. Broadly Gr.4 specs though mostly street cars tuned up. Best Motoring style trials on Tsukuba are my other favourite. Save the settings to one circuit and they load onto any other. You could make as many series as there are save slots for custom races.
I just don't buy the cars that I don't want to use.
It's like an unfinished business. I understand I don't need them all, but I must have them all!!! That's why I want to pass all the tests, get all the licenses, even though I know I don't need them. I'm sure I'm not alone. The only excuse is that there was already the TTS Coupé '09, and now there's the TTS Coupé '14, or something similar. But why even make the TTS Coupé '14? Because it was easy? Shouldn't they have developed a completely new model, but just tweaked the old one? I won't write about specific cars so as not to offend anyone, but there are also some frankly useless ones. I'm sure PD has the ability to conduct analysis and find out which cars are extremely rarely used. But I haven't sold 100 million copies of the game, so I have no right to write about the best.

p.s. @km666 Let me express my admiration for the car, dear Subaru fans. EJ20X?

The TTS '09 was a DLC car, the TTS' 14 was in the base game to clarify. They're two different enough cars to warrant buying imo.

I can't speak for these specific ones; this was the first example I've encountered, but I'm still convinced that if you let one person drive both cars, 90% of people would hardly notice the difference. Also:
M6 GT3 Sprint Model '16
M6 GT3 Endurance Model '16

Mercedes-AMG GT3 '16
Mercedes-AMG GT3 '20

Civic Type R (EK) '97
Civic Type R (EK) '98

Integra Type R (DC2) '95
Integra Type R (DC2) '98

Clio R.S. 220 Trophy '15
Clio R.S. 220 Trophy '16

GR Supra RZ '19
GR Supra RZ '20

GTI Roadster VGT
GTI Supersport VGT

I'm not saying having too many cars is bad, but I think these cars lack content. I just don't have enough events, and I don't want to create custom races. If I were to dream, I'd like to have an extremely tight budget, so that buying or receiving a car as a gift would be a celebration. I'd like to make choosing a GR3 car a difficult event, rather than driving a couple of hours and buying four. Test drive them at Autosloan to avoid making the wrong choice. Here's a list of cars, with standard PP 500-600. It would take a lot of time to try them all, and if you expand the list with tuning, it becomes an insanely long list:
Honda Civic Type R (FK8) '20

Honda NSX Type R '92

Mazda RX-7 Spirit R (FD) '02

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX '05

Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II (R32) '94

Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33) '03

Subaru WRX STI '14

Toyota GR Supra RZ '19

Toyota GR Yaris '20

Chevrolet Corvette C7 '14

Ford Mustang GT '15

Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe '06

Alfa Romeo 4C '14

BMW M3 (E46) '03

BMW M3 Sport Evolution (E30) '89

Porsche 911 Carrera RS (993) '95

Porsche Cayman GT4 '16

Renault Sport R.S.01 GT3 '16

Alpine A110 '17

Suzuki Swift Sport '07

Honda S2000 '99

This one was admittedly because of GT Sport-era logistics - that game did not have GT Auto (and the Endurance Model was there to highlight Kaz's N24 ride), and I feel the Endurance Model parts would have been in GT Auto if GT Sport had one.

Clio R.S. 220 Trophy '15
Clio R.S. 220 Trophy '16

GR Supra RZ '19

The Clio was a common duplicate punching bag in GT Sport era as well, and the 2020 GR Supra was added for marketing purposes (GR Supra GT Cup related) back in GT Sport.

I still think this is not the F3500-B, but a completely different Formula car with a single-color livery, sponsors that don't match those of the F3500-B and no stickers on the tires unlike the F3500-B which has a virtually identical livery to the F3500-A and default Dunlop stickers on the tires.

The F3500-B footage used at SoP Japan seems to be a recycle from the original SoP when the F3500-B (then unnamed) was originally revealed as part of Spec III.

Now we've seen that screenshot with how practice looks in the Power Pack, I wonder if refreshing lobbies/GTWS to look the same is part of the "improvements to online races" Spec III bullet point.

It would be weird, though not unlike PD I suppose, to have two separate UIs for practice and qualifying structure in the game.

Cheers! It's an EJ20Y as it has a manual gearbox. Came with a fujitsubo exhaust when it was imported from Japan and now has KW V2 and Ray's RE-30s.
