Aston Martin to Unveil Vision GT Car at Goodwood

VGT_AstonMartin_20140625

Aston Martin is the latest manufacturer to get onto the Vision GT bandwagon, as this teaser image shows the Gaydon-based company’s input to the recent slew of Vision GT cars coming to Gran Turismo 6.

Like the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision GT that was more fully revealed yesterday, Aston’s effort – dubbed the DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo – will be revealed to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, so any lucky winners of GTPlanet’s competition earlier this month or the in-game Aston Martin challenge will be amongst the first to lay eyes on both cars. GTPlanet will also be on hand at the Festival of Speed.

The British outfit is a little coy on details at present, with this being the only image available and with no other details bar the name and reveal date. It’s not even currently clear whether the car is a product of the road car (Aston Martin Lagonda) or race car (Aston Martin Racing) arm of the company!

As always, feel free to join the discussion on this car in our forums.

Update: Aston Martin is revealing images one by one and we will upload them to this post as they appear.

YES! Hoping for interior, maybe that means I’m hoping for a roadster, lol, maybe like that CC100 car they made. Maybe the engine is a good sign for interior, maybe it isn’t. Either way, this will be one if the most anticipated and awaited for VGT cars.

Sooo….. When is the server maintenance going to happen? Or is this update already loaded….?

Would be cool if we could get the JLR reveal that is happening at Goodwood to. last years JLR car looked sick.

Thank god there’s a V12 in there!!! Aston Martin doing it right all the way!! This is what I was talking about when I criticized the overuse of small boring turbo charged engines, hybrid or electric systems in concepts and production sports cars. This is the true car enthusiast passion that I was talking about!

    1. sumbrownkid

What makes having small engined turbo cars, or hybrids have any less passion than old V12s? If anything real passion comes from pushing the envelope of what’s possible. V12s are old news. Fun sure, but let’s try something new. That said, I saw the image of the V12 and it looks like it’s twin turbocharged.

I like it! I wonder what it will look like when it’s released. Oh I know this is off topic but I’m very curious to see what audi’s will look like (rally, LMP, or next gen r8 maybe?) But as for the Aston Martin (and Nissan) I hope they come soon!

    Suspiciously un-Aston ;(
Really would like it to be a modern take on the old DPs , zagatos and DBs.

Part of the issue to the VGT interiors may be, (don’t quote me for this), that as quick as they are putting these cars out, maybe they’re holding back on fine detailing until they get ut all out. It could be the same reason Red Bull Ring has no spectators there. Once again, my speculation.

@SnakeOfBacon Thanks for mentioning the DP215. Never seen or heard of that car before. What a beast. Too bad we’re not getting that instead to race the GT40 and Jaguar XJ-13 on the classic Le Sarthe sans Mulsanne chicanes!

looks a bit like an lmp car to me! Ill b happy with any car from aston, as it just is an aston :D

  10. ROFFATI

Looks promising… but please Aston Martin, please give it a nice cockpit… i hate those black frames of the standard cars and the Vision GT cars (besides the VW).
I know they made one… you can see the cockpits of the Vision GT cars when you go to the dealer to buy them… so please add them the cars in the game…

  11. OpticZero

This is totally inspired by the famous robots made popular in Manga and Anime…or is it just me?

    1. OpticZero

Whatever, Zo. Go eat a hard boiled egg with salt on it, you sidewalk user. You don’t know what you are talking about, you shirt-wearing, person. How dare you speak to me in that fashion…go use a table.

It looks to me aston’s gonna make an MR car, quite a big departure from their history and current line-up. Really curious!

    1. SnakeOfBacon

No, I don’t think that’s what the DP is for in this case.
Look up the Aston Martin DP215.

    2. Bom15

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be taking on the shape of either AM DP’s. One of nicest looking cars built imo. Especially DP214 in the pale metallic green

  13. SnakeOfBacon

I was expecting a smooth 2+2 coupe, something along the lines of a One-77/V12 Zagato mashup, but these shots are quite intriguing. I wasn’t expecting a modern successor to the DP215 so I’m looking forward to this.

    1. Aussie_HSV

Or perhaps they are bang on schedule.
Fair enough, maybe not a schedule you like, but who’s to tell?

    2. hsv

I’d be surprised if their schedule was nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing…. EVERYTHING AT ONCE ZOMG.

But, as you said, who’s to tell? ;)

  14. A_Higher_Place

This is one I’m actually excited for!

Though, the BMW did take me my surprise. Aston Martin has always been my favourite brand. I’m curious to see if they stuck with their “Classiness” for this car.

  15. jimbo0

Is it just me or are all the Vision cars a bit too similar and formulaic? Surely when your given free reign to design anything they should be coming up with very different designs. While there have been some fantastic looking cars I reckon Mercedes have the most ‘different’ looking car that also isn’t a million miles away from everything else. Still interested to see what comes next though.

    1. Normalaatsra

The VGT formula as far as I know is that the car has a turbocharger and is around past the 600 PP range. The car is usually designed to be a racing car but it’s not exclusive to that (see the first MB VGT and compare it to the Racing Series ver. and all the other VGT’s so far).

  16. Gameratwork99

Wow! PD are really in overdrive right now. Although I hope this car comes soon and we don’t have to wait that long after the reveal.
