It just feels to me like so far the cars in this update have been specifically curated for it (FTO, Mine's, Espace for GT nostalgia; 296 and F3500-B for Sport Mode types; Polestar so they can introduce/market the new brand in LA) and while the Panda is a car I like and a perfectly cool and valid car for the series, I don't think it reaches the level of a car you specifically curate for your big update.

The more time passes, the more I agree with that view. Everything about this update has been extremely intentional so far - I get the feeling the last two cars remain undisclosed because they want to make headlines with them, the same way as with the Espace.

That being said, it's probably two outlandish Vision GTs lol.

Yes we see. But given it was Ferrari circuit challange event its very likely it could be new Ferrari coming with spec lll, pd always add new event types that matches with theme of the cars for the update.

Or… since Ferrari Circuit Challenges are not limited to road cars (i remember using gr4 458 ) this could be for 296GT3

There were also updates when PD added event not related to any of the cars (we did get WTC900 on spa without new gr2 car )

I also think that Panda won’t be part of spec 3. Usually those bigger updates with new track and bigger overhaul of the game has pretty decent car line ups. Look st spec 2 update, eiger update, or 2022 december update, psvr2 update.
All of them were „bigger” and had all high end cars or legendary cars

Ferrari Circuit Challenge has a 700 PP limit and the opponents are exclusively road cars. On other hand, it's road equivalent, though...

And, as previously listed in this thread, all updates bringing more content than just three cars also had at least one but sometimes more than one meme/EV/VGT car.

The Polestar 5 is an EV, so that already fulfils that particular part of the pattern but doesn't preclude another.

Question about the Dunlop licencing. When the Michelin licence was active, cars ran Michelin stickers for Sport Mode. The sticker glitch meant players could parade the branding on road & Gr.4 cars outside of Sport Mode.
What stops the tyre stickers from being used on every road car and Gr.4 car outside of Sport Mode?

Ferrari circuit challanges dosent have race cars competing in them, their is also a world touring 800 event besides ferrari circuit challange, witch is most likely added for 296 gt3.

There are two cars remaining in this update that we don't know about. Whilst I'm pretty convinced one of them will be an American road car following the pattern of the Spec II update, I have had a wildcard idea...

What if we get Lotus back?

Lotus shares its parent company with Polestar, which we know is coming to the game. There's a fairly long-standing theory that PD add humdrum family cars and hybrids to the game for promotional reasons. Any deal with Geely for the use of the Lotus might have included the proviso of adding the slow-selling Polestar 5 in exchange.

Given how beloved the Lotus brand is amongst car enthusiasts I doubt they'd just be casually added in a random update like Volvo. Adding Lotus would be an event - an event perfect for Spec III.

At this point, I'm convinced that Lotus (or whoever is in charge of license) just straight up dislikes PD and/or Yamauchi so much and refuses to collaborate out of principle

Considering that there are GT Sport quality models of the Evora (with Gr.4 and Gr.3 specs as well I believe?) and the Elise, even if it were the return of Lotus, surely they'd want to add in all of them versus just the one. But, hey, maybe they would just add both road-going Lotuses (Loti??) to fill out the roster.

While Lotus would be a very welcome return to the series and there's always a chance they come back (no matter how small), it's unlikely it would have something to do with the inclusion of Polestar in Spec III, or Volvo some updates back.

@Famine wrote this post, which explains this much better than I could:
To re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reiterate, it doesn't work like that in the vast majority of cases (Stellantis being the sole exception, and even then Maserati is an exception to that exception) - and it incredibly doesn't work like that here.

PR teams are, almost across the board, responsible for their own brands' marketing and (budgets aside) parent umbrella corps aren't involved. For that matter Geely Auto isn't actually linked to Polestar or Lotus; Zhejiang Geely Holding is the parent, Geely Auto is a subsidiary with oversight of Geely (the car brand), Proton, and LEVC, and - via a second... ummm... group, I guess, Zeekr and Lynk&Co. Polestar and Volvo are under the Volvo Car Group, Lotus is under the Lotus Group, smart is under the smart Group. The Geely, Volvo, Lotus, and smart groups are all separate subsidiaries of ZGH.

But either way, the Lotus PR team is who handles the advertising and marketing for Lotus (which includes getting cars in games) and it's not connect to what Polestar, Volvo, Geely (brand) or Geely (group) do with their PR.

One can dream though.

It's PD. They've always had weird, seemingly senseless restrictions. Why can't I mix carbon paint with other paints, why can't I race Group X cars against anything other than itself in Custom Races, etc..

Though, as far as tyre stickers go, I'm guessing that not all tyre brands have all the sticker sizes required for Gr.4 and road cars, some of which can run really narrow sidewalls. Maybe Michelin provided PD with all sorts of sizes of stickers that enabled them to be put on road cars, but not other brands. It'd look rather weird when we can only use Michelin stickers on road cars, so I think PD might have limited tyre stickers to racecars for uniformity.

All cars should have the black Dunlop writing like the Michelin tyres had. Rendering the yellow over the Dunlop writing shouldn’t be a hindrance on any of the sidewalls.
We’ll see, but PD are weird indeed.

Spec III is next week and we're still dark about the 2 cars. Maybe this weekend Kaz will post a silhouette and hopefully they are not just filler like FIAT Panda
Fingers crossed for another GT3 car. It‘s probably quite unlikely though.

I‘m expecting the return of at least one car from the older GT games. Maybe that‘s why PD haven‘t announced them yet.

We have Espace as a „return” from older GT Game, and Mines Skyline, and FTO

What is missing from this dlc i some kind „new” sport car, like BMW M3 (new gen) some Ferrari or Lamborghini. I somewhat think Revuelto would be perfect fit in spec 3 completing Lambo V12 lineup

I fail to remember where and when I said that, but I rather think we might have a new Gr.2 car. With a view to making this group more attractive for the release of the Power Pack DLC.

Probably a DTM car as we already have 4 cars for the DTM X GT500 era (Audi RS 5 Turbo DTM, Honda NSX Concept-GT, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500, and Lexus RC F GT500). So probably one of those three :

  • Aston Martin Vantage AMR DTM
  • BMW M4 Turbo DTM
  • Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM

And for the last remaining slot, on of those : Fiat Panda, Xiaomi SU7, or a returning american road car (like a Mustang SVT Cobra R or a 4th gen Camaro).

Definitely sounds plausible. The M4 DTM would be a great addition since BMW‘s race car selection is pretty outdated at this point.

But whatever the two yet unknown cars may be, it‘s already a great car selection and I‘m really looking forward to the update!

Maybe tomorrow we get more info since updates usually release on Thursday. We're still due a trailer for Circuit Gilles Villeneuve like we had for Yas Marina so maybe they reveal the last cars on that trailer.

Have we ruled out that the 2 Power Pack cover cars are the two missing cars?

If so I'd throw in that there are two Gr4 (I guess) cars I'd murder for.

Fingers crossed.

Worse or better than that for sure.

1. Mitsubishi FTO (200cv old good car for tune or more)
2. Ferrari 296 GT3 (GR3)
3. Formula 3500B (non race group car)
4. Mines BNR34 (tuned car filler)
5. Polestar 5 (EV car of the update)
6. Renault Espace F1 (old GT classic fan favorite requested car, no race group, maybe not competitive at all in 800 or 900pp category)

2 left...

7. SUV?
8. Old car?

For me those cars are in Used car or Legendary dealership. Because those two never appeared in the last GT World series like the FTO or the Espace F1.

Something is scratching my head about the FTO. Apparently it’s the GP Version R “Aero Series” which has the sportier side skirts and spoilers, only with these visual differences compared to the regular GP Version R, theoretically making it a new car to the series.

However, the FTO GP Version R featured on the series since the beginning appears to be exactly the same visually when analyzing the spoilers and side skirts. When comparing GT7’s FTO to the legacy one, I honestly can’t tell any visual difference aside from the obvious Aero Series badge.

What am I missing here?

Someone said in YT. The possibility of one of those cars is the Autobacs Arta Garaiya, GR4 in this case.

The old one was incorrectly named. It happened a lot.

I’m hoping there’s some kind of older car in the spec III update. Or two. Maybe a Cutlass or an Iroc Z. Even better, a ford Capri (and not the new SUV Capri 🤮)

I don't think having a Ferrari event in Yas Marina means anything, for instance Grand Valley released full of events that had nothing to do with the cars of the update, and it is not uncommon for PD to add events that don't link to any of the update cars either, as someone mentioned already the WTC900 in Spa a few updates ago.
