Meaning they're not the same as before. It's a minor feature, so it only got a mention in the blog post, but nothing in the trailer, which lists the important stuff.
The reason people complain is that the only new thing about this, is not being able to play it anymore after a while. Literally the only thing this "adds" is that it will take content away from you after a while.
If any of the new seasonal menus would have been added to the existing extra menus, it would just objectively be better.

It's not a new feature at all though, it's just extra menus but these ones are time limited. That's literaly all it is.

I think it's pretty reasonable to be disappointed in that when that also could've easily been actual seasonal events for new content.
You're right. It's the one thing that's really strange/disappointing. Unless there's more to it. That menu expires 22 Dec, so will presumably be followed by another. Wonder if it'll always be update cars, or if we're gonna be forced to buy more stuff we don't want that's already in game?

You're not forced to buy anything. If you don't want the clearly advertised prize, don't buy the cars.

I know. Don't take everything so literally. You know I meant '...if we want the tickets'. But, yeah, ofc, if we don't want the prize, no problem ignoring.

Nebuc is right though. It's an underwhelming addition.

This is game-changing for me. I'm sold.

Although I could've sworn that early previews from Gran Turismo Sport featured Scapes with shots that look like they have "external" lighting....

EDIT: Turns out the 2016 Gameplay Trailer does feature an "Add Light" option on the Photo Mode UI! Really curious to see if the new "Additional Light" features are what could've been implemented back in GT Sport.

No joke, this is by far the biggest improvement they could have done concerning photo mode!

The only sentence I was silently hoping to read wasn’t there: “Livery editor improved; use of special paints and decals grouping added” 🤦🏻‍♂️😔. But that aside, it is an amazing update!! The cars looks amazing, and I’m looking forward to that “Added Illumination” in photo mode and to try the new physics change!! New tuning season arrived!! 😁😁🔥🔥

I'm getting really nervous of how Espace F1 is going to sound, I mean both trailers that featured the car has it revving so low that it sounds a lot like a Ferrari F2007 and that was on GT5P and GT5.
I'm afraid of them messing it up, and they still have yet to fix the sound of Pagani Zonda R, and we all know how disappointing sound wise it is on GT7.
As for Power Pack, since its paid and I have a Japanese version meant that I won't be able to buy it in my region, seems to not worth it to me due to curated car selections and it just sucks so bad knowing that Sophy 3.0 is locked behind a paywall along with Power Pack DLC.
Cheapskates like me will have to stuck with dumb Sophy.

That’s the kind of thing that would only be in the patch notes on release day as opposed to the pre release stuff. I doubt these things will be added though - maybe some new Dunlop decals though!

Anything yet regarding physics changes? Just hoping I won't have re-tune the pp settings on loads of cars in the garage. Yet again...

I've been taking a loooooooong break from GT7, but now I'm kinda excited about the new Weekly Events. One TT, one Special Race and one Mission Challenge per week is a bit more similar to what we had back at GT5/6 with seasonal events.

Even if it's just variations like one TT + SR or one Mission Challenge + TT per week, I'm just happy that we're getting more. It would be even better if weekly challenges in the future include different events like drift missions and mileage trials.

Despite being shown on a race track the PP image is of 2 rally versions of existing cars. Rather than customisations I wouldn't be surprised if they are specifics versions that come with the DLC or are some sort of Rally upgrade like we use to have with the Race Modifications we use to be able to apply to certain cars. Some of the thumbnail images in the PP DLC hinted as specially modified versions of existing cars.
Called it... people were hoping for more customisation options but suspected they would all be standalone variants rather than manually added customisations.

No data logger for sport mode? What are they thinking!? This is so dumb!
That is a bit of a bummer. Was hoping to take some of the top TT (even within the Daily Races and not just the TT events) times to see exactly what they're doing that I am not. Definitely still merit to it but what I was planning/hoping to do with it doesn't look like it's going to happen unfortunately.

After seeing the trailer I am excited for the new cars and tracks. I do like the fact they have race cars, road cars and Mom cars in the same update. I think that is the one thing PD has always done well is add a wide swath of cars across automotive history. We don't always agree with their choices but they couldn't possibly please everyone.
