British Lightweights Featured in Latest GT6 Seasonal Events

New seasonal events are now available in Gran Turismo 6. This week’s events are the usual fare, a combination of challenge events with varying degrees of difficulty, featuring NASCAR racing machines, non-race cars, and lightweight British cars of the non-racing variety.

Could Gran Turismo Sport Be Bumped to 2017?

Gran Turismo Sport was first revealed almost four and a half months ago. Since then, Polyphony have remained tight-lipped on the PS4’s first Gran Turismo title, though morsels have slipped off the table to keep the fanbase hungry for new information. Shortly after the unveiling, Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan announced his confidence in the game hitting its 2016 release target.

Heitkotter Kicks Off Pirelli World Challenge Season With Podium Finish

The Pirelli World Challenge season got underway this past weekend, bringing more success for GT Academy grads and Nissan’s 2016 motorsports teams. Bryan Heitkotter was bumped up to the top GT class in the PWC mid-season last year, where he ended the series in a respectable 10th place. For 2016 however, Bryan started on an equal footing against other professional drivers, and wasted no time establishing himself as a contender with an award-winning drive in Texas on Saturday.

Here we go! It’s the start of a new approach for Track of the Week here at GTPlanet. We saw 16 entries last week by our community, which then went to a vote a few days ago. As decided by his peers, WRS regular Whitetail has secured the title this week, with his eponymously-named Whitetail Raceway.

“GAME ON” Museum Exhibit in Japan Inducts Gran Turismo Showcase

The Gran Turismo series has been honoured with a spot in the ‘GAME ON’ exhibit within the Japan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. In this event, which showcases the history of video games, a fully functioning GT cabinet running Gran Turismo 6 can be played with a Thrustmaster T300RS steering wheel (pedals from the T500RS are used, however).

Lamborghini Centenario – It’s Fast and You Can’t Buy It

This year would have marked the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the eccentric Italian marque. To celebrate the occasion, the storied automaker is producing an extremely limited production run of the Centenario pictured above. Unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Centenario’s design is built around a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and Lamborghini’s most powerful V12 powerplant to date, producing 770 horses, and can propel itself to 60 in a paltry 2.8 seconds.

Driveclub Smartphone Application Goes Live

Hot on the heels of last week’s new tour packs, Evolution Studios have finally pushed out their smartphone application to the masses with the official Driveclub app hitting iOS and Android storefronts yesterday afternoon. Initially promised for launch in October 2014, the app’s core functionality allows players to track in-game challenges they are currently competing in and accept recommended challenges from around the Driveclub community.

We asked, and you answered. Last week, Track of the Week was opened to community suggestions, and the response was better than we could’ve even hoped. There are sixteen ribbons of tarmac waiting for players to enjoy, all plucked from the GTPlanet Track Database. You can drive any or all of them, but only one will get the TOTW title this weekend.

21 Rides Arrive in FM6 Porsche Expansion, Along With VIR

Hot on the heels of the news of PC-based Apex spin-off, Turn 10 unleashed the long-awaited Porsche Expansion Pack for Forza 6 today. The pack spans six decades of the storied marque’s history, from the 1955 550A Spyder to the Le Mans-winning 2015 919 Hybrid. It also ups the track count, introducing Virginia International Raceway to the lineup with seven different layouts, as well as both night and rain variations.
