It looks like someone at Playground Games has once again let the cat (or is it pig?) out of the bag. After a brief glimpse of what appeared to be a 911 GT3 4.0 RS during E3 2016, the brand has once again been spotted, this time within Forza Horizon 3’s menus.
The sales keep on flowing in. Sony announced the PlayStation Store Black Friday sales earlier this week, and while there were some big discounts, racing fans were left with slim pickings. Sony has now augmented the original batch of discounts with another few dozen titles, and there are some hot deals for fast-acting drivers.
Black Friday has only just begun, but we’ve been keeping track of the deals since last week. One area that seems to be lacking — especially compared to last year — is sim racing hardware like wheels and seats. Fanatec has stepped up to offer a discount on a small selection of its wares, and depending on region, it could save keen racers almost 50% compared to retail.
The mercury’s been steadily tumbling. A big jolly man has been spotted in malls and parading down city streets. There’s no avoiding it: the holidays are here. For a large chunk of the Western world, that naturally means holiday shopping, and that means Black Friday.
We’re inching closer to the big deal-finding day (or, as it has increasingly become, the entire long weekend). The Xbox Store already revealed its Black Friday deals last week, and now Sony has announced their own slashed prices.
Remember last week, when Motogames.tv dropped a video of the Bugatti Vision GT taking to Polyphony’s new oval circuit? The video coverage continues, this time not from the perspective within the carbon fibre creation, but from various vantage points around the track.
Americans are gearing up for Thanksgiving next week. Thanks to a certain consumer-oriented event that also takes place on the last weekend of November, Playground Games is kicking off the holiday celebrations a week early in Forza Horizon 3.
They’re back! Jezza, Captain Slow, and Hamster have officially returned with The Grand Tour, fuelled by a venerable American e-commerce juggernaut. Amazon Prime subscribers in the US, United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany can enjoy the first episode — titled “The Holy Trinity” — right now.
Ah, to be back in 2006. A simpler time, full of flip-phones, Zunes, and Myspace. Twitter had only just begun its expansion; Lindsay Lohan, her descent. It was into this landscape Sony pushed out its third home console, the ambitious PlayStation 3. That was ten years ago today (at least, in the North American market).
Gamers looking to get behind the squared-off wheel of an F1 car have just had another option added to the list. Shortly after releasing F1 2016 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms earlier this year, Codemasters announced plans to bring the title to mobile platforms. That day has arrived, with a catch: so far, only iOS users have access to the mobile version.
Sony’s big end-of-year event is fast approaching. The PlayStation Experience, held December 3 and 4 in Anaheim, California, is a rare opportunity for gamers to go hands-on with a wide collection of the company’s offerings and hear from the developers. This year, the list of 60+ studios includes Polyphony Digital.
Last week offered quite an explosion of information on not just the PS4 Pro, but GT Sport. For the first time since the delay announcement at the end of summer, Polyphony was on hand at a demonstration of its upcoming game, sharing details on what’s achievable on the new, more powerful hardware. Chief amongst these revelations was our first look at VR in GT Sport, tempered by the news it would be limited to a dedicated “VR Tour Mode“.
The Forza Racing Championship started its second season last month in the open-world arcade racer that is Horizon 3. This week, the competition returns to Turn 10’s sim-oriented Motorsport title, offering players the first challenge that could lead to one lucky person finishing the year off $10,000 USD richer.
The news keeps on rolling out of London. We’ve already seen the first footage of GT Sport utilizing both PS4 Pro and PSVR, and heard the revelation that Kazunori Yamauchi at one point considered outsourcing to speed up franchise development. The latter tidbit came care of Videogamer.com, the same source for the latest news: PlayStation VR support will only feature in a dedicated ‘VR Tour’ mode.
More details are quickly leaking out of the dedicated PS4 Pro event, held yesterday and today in London, England. For GT Sport, we’ve already heard confirmation that the game will support both 4K (through upscaling) and HDR, as well as the PlayStation VR peripheral. Today, we’ve got our first glimpse at all of the above, coming to us care of Adam ‘Grizwords’ Mathew, Editor of Official PlayStation Magazine Australia.
Well that didn’t take long. Sony’s dedicated PS4 Pro event got underway earlier today in London — after news of it broke earlier this week — and details are already starting to leak out. Most pertinent to sim-racing fans is the news that GT Sport will be taking full advantage of Sony’s new powerhouse, as confirmed by Kazunori Yamauchi himself.
The PS4 Pro is due to land on shelves across the globe next week after being unveiled back in September. As expected, Sony is gearing up with a press-only event focusing on the new hardware, and it kicks off in London tomorrow.
