1. I can't do __________ race/championship

Be sure to use the SEARCH function before making a thread for help, because there’s a high chance its been discussed before. In-depth write-ups of some events can be found in this thread HERE.


2. I can’t find a certain car, where is it?

There’s a discussion on this HERE. Or, you can look at the Used Car Cycle list of when certain cars appear in the Used Car lots HERE (PAL) or HERE (NA). You could also look at the Prize Car Lists HERE (JPN list), HERE (NA list), or HERE.(PAL list)


3. Why can't I enter the Extreme Hall?

You need gold in all series races in Beginner and Professional Halls to access the final event in Professional Hall or any event in Extreme Hall, and also make sure they are not Bronze instead of Gold because they can look quite similar. If you skip a race or lose a race during a series, you must go back and race that as well.


4. How can I win the Gran Turismo World Championship?

All the help and cars you can use are found HERE. There are also some good Race Reports on this champonship, found in this thread.


5. Is there a list of the line-ups for the Gran Turismo World Championship?

Yes. The cycle for the 52 line-ups in the PAL version are listed in here.


6. Are there any settings for __________ car?

Be sure to use the SEARCH function before making a thread requesting settings on a car because it may have been done before. Duck has done settings for many cars already, so it’s great to check out his workshop HERE.


7. Is there a Used Car cycle list (when certain cars appear, etc)?

There is a great Used Car cycle list made by Famine (PAL version only) HERE. Download the Excel file there.

8. How do I drift?

21. Help! My GT4 savegame/memory card is corrupt. What should I do?

You can't do much to save the GT4 save, I'm afraid. Once it's corrupt it's gone, unless you had the savegame on another memory card or backed up onto your PC using a Max Drive (see question No. 30 for more information on backing up save files).

To fix the corrupt card, you can use the Max Drive. You highlight the card which is having problems, then press Square to give it a clean format. It should then work properly.


22. Where can I upload my videos/pictures?

I personaly use Imageshack.us for images, and http://www.yousendit.com/ for videos, but there are many other places found HERE.

28. What is TCS?

This stops the cars wheels from spinning when you apply throttle. You can change how strong you apply this in the setup screen just before a race. The stronger you apply it, the less wheelspin you get.


29. What is ASM?

This applies the brakes automatically to slow down the car while going around a corner. This helps the car stop oversteering and understeering, depending on what’s happening. You can change how strong you apply these in the car setup screen just before a race. The stronger you apply the settings, the less oversteer or understeer you will get, but this can slow down your car badly. If you want the best track times, you should disable it.

You’ll find people's times HERE. To take an accurate reading, go to the 0-400m or 0-1000m strips in the Power and Speed hall, race, and pause when you reach 60mph. The time will be on the top right-hand corner of your screen.


35. How do I back-up my GT4 savegame?

You need to have 2 PS2 memory cards. Go to the PS2’s browser and copy the savegame from one memory chip to the other.

Or, you can use a:

MAXDRIVE = Is a USB flashdrive that comes with its own Software. The Software lets you copy saves from your memory card to the USB drive and vice versa.

X-port = is a device that you put your memory card in and can connect to your PC via USB.

With the savegames on your PC you can share them over the Internet! Therefore you see those savegames in *.max format or *.xps

Firstly before you read on, you’ll need Photoshop Elements (or better) before you can do any of this.

Sometimes, you can find “Original” parts sold by some tuners. This varies depending on what car you’re tuning. Other than this, the parts are all the same.


47. What is the ending movie music called?

48. Why are there no split times at Fuji Speedway 2005?

This is probably because the split times in GT4 are from real life, so when GT4 was made, the track wasn’t even complete, so PD had no idea where to put them and left them out.


49. Are Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini in GT4?

No. This is because other game companies have the license to have them in their games, which makes them have an advantage over the GT series. So if PD were to acquire the licenses, it would be very expensive.


50. Where do I find the old Mini?

The car is only available in the Japanese and Chinese first-releases of GT4.
