1.03 update adds ONLINE ONLY mechanical damage (No further details known.)

Has anyone noticed that GT-TV is updated with Best Motoring and Super GT series? This is great, Keiichi Tsuchiya finally in my bedroom! Already downloading an episode.

That is a good point. Could someone confirm if crashing into someone not only damages the "crasher" but the "crashed" also?...

So, how does this damage thing work then? I've seen the picture that shows the damaged areas highlights, but what are the specifics?

If I damage my car online, can I go into the pits to get it repaired?

Is all damage fixed through GT Auto?

Is it possible to damage a specific purchased part, and if so, do I have to re-buy that part?

Can you damage the tires (eg puncutres blowouts)?

Hey guys, just thought I'd post something strange I encountered (it's my first post, so I understand if you don't believe me). Anyway, I was doing the AMG Driving Academy Special races, and it says that the reward for gold is 41k credits. I ended up getting a silver, and received 50,000c + 9000exp. Maybe they did improve the leveling system? I'm about to do another one, I'll keep you informed.

I noticed this too. After the update was installed I did the Karting special event advanced, got gold on my first attempt and got $119,000 which was the sum of the Gold + Silver + Bronze money.

Prior to the update, I think we only got money for either Gold OR Silver OR Bronze. If this is was the case (someone else please confirm this too), the update seems to give Gold (and likely Silver) winners more money now.

This seems cool BUT I went back to Karting special event Intermediate which I already got Gold in prior to the update ($15,000) and ran it again. I got gold BUT no more money! I then intentionally came in second, got Silver BUT no more money. If this is the case, then those of us who got Gold in special events prior to the update are losing out on a lot of money!

Not trying to cause a panic, but if this is the case, many of us will be very disappointed

No, I haven't even done the 1.02 update yet and I got the combined amount of gold + silver + bronze from the start...it has always been like that

In a nutshell, if you hit the left front of your car the left front wheel wobbles, likewise for the other 3 wheels. You can supposedly damage the engine too. Making a pit stop repairs all damage.

my car was totalled, steering was messed up and the gears were not as responsive, tranny was broke

How was the car after the race? Needed repair done or could you just race with it again like it suffered nothing?

Oh, and you have to configure G25/G27 through Driving Force Pro menu.

I'm afraid, Amar, it's as the guys have said. G25 is fine with DFP menu and mapping buttons all over the place. G27 however is not configured through the DFP menu, and there is no way to reconfigure any of the buttons, including the ones on the shifter.

I too have noticed that on most occasions, the shift from 1st to 2nd, or even 3rd to 2nd, fails more often than not. Initially I did not feel I had this problem, but it's begun to surface much more and I recognise it as an issue.

G27 users will have to grin and bear the hit and miss clutch shifting for the time being, and map buttons using the Sixaxis/DS3 controllers.

I'm looking forward to installing the new update hugely when I get home 👍

so i just bought GT5 today (yeah, i know im a bit late, thats because of the exams in school just finished 2 days ago so i just bought it now) and i was wondering about the updates that PD have been releasing, i missed the v1.01 and v1.02, and i havent download the v1.03 yet, and the thing that bugged me is that the psn doesnt ask me to download v1.01 and v1.02, instead the psn aske me to download the v1.03, is it possible that after i download the v1.03, i still need to download the v1.01 and v1.02 ? i heard that v1.02 updates the online portion and i really wanted to play gt5 online. so can you guys help me, btw im sorry for the bad grammar

Yeah, I just had private conversation with Dev and unfortunately G27 has it's separate issues as I've learned.

Although I'm glad I use G25, I sincerely hope that G27 users will get full support-patch in future updates.

In all honesty JJ, I have not installed the update yet, but on the weekend I was in a friend's lounge and we were free-running Calsonic GTRs at Deep Forest, and I hit the wall many times and my laptimes were suffering. The car itself was also pretty banged-up looking.

Now I consider myself to be a pretty consistent driver and I hope my GTP WRS divisional placing supports what I am saying, but as soon as I exited the lounge and immediately selected "Go To Track" again, the damage was gone and the car was capable of running fast laps again.

I also do not attribute this to tyre wear because I banged the car up on the very first few laps, and the affected performance was not just understeer/oversteer, it was clearly affecting acceleration and most notably top speed. I spent nearly 2 hours in the car at Deep Forest with another user here, GTP_Sigma, and I can honestly say I noticed eveidence of some mech damage before the update with the settings we had in that lounge.

This is all moot now of course as it has been implemented officially/properly 👍

I don't think this particular update is causing this, as there has already been threads on users having a corrupt save game way before this update even came out and it sounds like that is what has happened.

I noticed a few posts about the birthday glitch in this thread so just wanted to give my thought on the subject. Although I havnt used it yet {you have to be careful sometimes it takes all the incentive out of the game} I think the present system is a bit unfair, some years get a chance at $20 mil cars were some get nothing but the crappiest standard cars. For a birthday present you should get one of the most prime and unatainable {$20 mil honestly, that is 1000 x $20k races} cars for everyone no matter what year.
