Highly sophisticated racing simulators are increasingly common these days. What racing drivers can’t learn prior the race itself can be experienced and absorbed on these high-tech platforms. This allows drivers to be highly competitive regardless of the track they are going to face next.

Earlier this year beginning in February, our team of Weekly Race Series racers developed a new event, known as the Triple Mix. The backbone of the series was the freedom in picking the car you wanted to tour around the events, and participants would have that option: the GT300 versions of the Impreza, IS350, and RX-7 would be available over the course of the championship.

Eagle-eyed GTPlanet user queleuleu has spotted a yet-to-be-announced car that will feature in the Gran Turismo Sport roster — the Toyota S-FR racing model. The photo featured above shows a clearly modified version of Toyota’s concept car in GT Sport’s ‘Scapes’ mode being photographed against an urban environment.

The countdown is officially underway until the next entry in the open-world series releases later this month. Before racers can blitz around the land down under enjoying features new to the franchise, there’s an interesting detour along the way: the original Forza Horizon is now available to everyone with an active XBL Gold subscription courtesy of this month’s Games With Gold.

Things have certainly kicked into a higher gear leading up to the release of Forza Horizon 3 in less than one month’s time. Not only has the game officially gone gold, revealing a unique playable vehicle alongside PC specs and the full list of achievements, there’s even more to this increasingly apparent Horizon celebration.

Assetto Corsa recently completed its roll-out on consoles, arriving in North America yesterday. Gamers looking to maximize the available cars could seek out pre-order exclusives from various retailers, in the form of the Performance and Prestige packs. For those unable to do so — or for the significant portion of players that pre-order digitally — Kunos Simulazioni have now announced the latter pack will be available for purchase at a later date.

The wait is nearly over: the next entry in the open-world racer has officially gone gold. Releasing on the 27th of next month, and four days earlier for those with early access courtesy of the Ultimate Edition, Forza Horizon 3 is set to deliver plenty of fun from down under.

Sony has announced via the Playstation Blog US that Gran Turismo Sport will not be releasing this November. In the update post, Kazunori Yamauchi himself details that the game will now be releasing in 2017 with an exact release window still to be confirmed.

One of the most impressive features of the Gran Turismo series has always been its replays. Ever since the first game way back on the original PlayStation, Polyphony has made an effort to give the replays a feeling of authenticity. Racing is fun, but GT games made watching the race after the fact entertaining in its own way.

We can’t really imagine more hazardous driving conditions than those presented in the latest video in Marcel Pfister‘s Mixed Reality series. Night-time combined with a severe snowstorm manages to create a really uncomfortable racing scenario. To experience the danger full-scale, Marcel used an Oculus Rift VR headset in combination with green-screen technology, a well-known recipe we have encountered in all previously-released Mixed Reality videos.

The Forza Garage series of car reveals came to an end this week with a surprise only the craziest of car lovers would appreciate. Week 6 changed things up quite a bit by revealing that the three-wheeled Reliant Supervan III, best known to those in the UK for being featured in the BBC comedy ‘Only Fools and Horses’, would be featured in the game.

Earlier this month, GT Academy winner Nicolas Hammann made his NASCAR debut in the Xfinity series. Competing at the Zippo 200 Watkins Glen International, the American managed a 28th place finish after an oil leak plagued his race. Although not ideal, his placing did put him ahead of a good few NASCAR veterans including NASCAR sprint cup champion Kyle Busch, although Busch did have an accident himself. Hammann’s Xfinity journey isn’t over yet however — he’ll race this weekend in the Road America 180.

Fanatec has just announced the latest addition in its extensive lineup of sim racing accessories: the CSL Elite wheel base and pedal set. The new model sits below the existing high-end Clubsport V2 model, but is usefully more powerful than the original V1. It is compatible with both Xbox One and PC platforms.

While those residing in North America have just a little bit longer of a wait on their hands, Assetto Corsa has finally touched down in Europe and the UK after an arduous adventure. It goes without saying that the acclaimed racer is already being put through its paces, and those currently enjoying the game have had a several hour head-start to enjoy some newer content.

Players looking to get a taste of Forza Motorsport 6 will be able to do just that this weekend. Starting late last night, the 2015 title was made a part of Xbox Live’s Free Play Days initiative, allowing gamers to test drive any of the 460+ cars the game launched with back in September of last year.

Assetto Corsa has landed on consoles today (at least, in Europe and the UK). Players on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will get to enjoy the title before it launches in North America this coming Tuesday.
