Only online? Why not in time trials as well?

Well at least we're seeing some progress. Just pick it up from where this update leaves off.

Remember guys, if you wanna do it alone just create your own lounge.

Is damage also available in GT Life mode?

Don't think so. After update I did the championship and was banging left and right and it was business as usual...

HOWEVER went online and put damage to max and WOW NOW THAT'S THE STUFF. Banged my wheel and the steering wheel was shaking like a mad man. I mean some serious shaking like NEVER before seen in the game. Just did that one little thing but I'm already :) Now FINALLY PROPER RACES ARE THAT MUCH CLOSER!!!! Dont stop now PD, keep it coming

And YES it's in the Force Feedback and how!

Ladies and gentlemen, please keep the proceedings civil, or else we will be forced to take action. Disruptive members will be taken care of in due course, but in the meantime, please do not feed the trolls. If you see somebody has posted something that is offensive or abusive, don't quote it - report it. A moderator will be dispatched to the thread to clean it out.

The user in question has been taken care of, but I am disappointed at the number of posts I had to clear out that were already fuelling a raging fire. You only encourage the trolls to continue doing what they do, which in turn creates more work for us. And we don't look upon that too kindly. Anybody who feeds the trolls may be on the receiving end of warnings or infractions for useless posts.

Has anyone noticed that GT-TV is updated with Best Motoring and Super GT series? This is great, Keiichi Tsuchiya finally in my bedroom! Already downloading an episode.

Gone are the days of bumper cars and rail rubbing. If you crash, you're finished. That's the important thing.

How about a video?

My Clio Sport V6 not only looks messed up but feels and sounds it too.

I didn't try it with my wheel so don't know if the FFB is changed as well, which I suspect it might with the car vibrating and stuff :)

Nice visual touch where you can see gaps in the skid marks indicating that the tires are losing and regaining traction with the road.

Any patch should be a good one, but I hope they'll start ironing out a few things rather than adding even more features soon.

So, why not in A or B spec you ask?
Well, that would force them to make the AI cars take mec. damage as well. If they did that, they would also have to alter / re program the AI. They cannot drive like they do now when mec. damage is fully included. And a tweak is simply not enough here. They would have to see you, and each other in order to not bump you off the track, or brake at idiotic places when you are close behind them. Same with B spec, that guy with mec. damage? Now that would be frustrating!

While I think it's quite possible this was either A reason or THE reason, you are saying it as if it's fact and you have no way to know that. You have made the common mistake of thinking up a reasonable possibility then convincing yourself that becuase it makes sense, it's true.

That is in no way a sound logical process.

Chances are they are working on that as we speak. And hopefully next patch will include it in A and B spec mode, with a new and better AI.

Unless you have some insider information I would say chances are not likely they are working on a better AI via a patch... it would seem like if THIS is the AI they have come up with in a 6 year gap since GT4 and they have had damage in the game for quite a while now (Kaz mentioned it originally working quite a while back) it would be highly unlikely they could patch it in a month to work with damage when they hadn't already got it working as such for release.

The next member to post something that I have to delete to stop this thread turning into a massive off-topic flame fest gets a 10 point infraction and a 2 day temporary ban.

You don't like A-spec, fine. Take it to the correct thread and discuss it like an adult.

Not a discussion, by the way. its an instruction.

Scaff

Regardless of what the patch does or doesn't do, I'm just very glad they're releasing any updates at all. So many Japanese developers seem to just release a game and leave it as-is, never releasing updates or content.

I hope they can keep it up for a while, it's nice to be able to sign in and have new stuff to play with every now and then.

Well they supported GT5p for quite some time until GT5 was officially announced to be released.

The released like 3 new cars I believe and 2 major updates for the game's background. So for the full game I'm sure they won't leave us sulking.. :nervous:

Good point! Offcourse this is how I see it, and everybody is entlitled to theire own opinions. But as I know quite a bit about game design and game programing, i would say this is the most reasonable scenario at this moment. You are right that i should started the reply with something in the line of my views within my knowledge of game design and programming. Thank you for pointing it out! 👍

Ok nice PD is working on the game! But god damn that game makes no sense without leaderboards!

I want to race against other peoples time on the Nordschleife and some other tracks... If they got problems with the content, then give us at least leaderboards for premium cars...

I didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know if this is mentioned before, but have you tried the Gran Turismo TV? It works now.
I didn't tried the GT TV for a long time, because it never worked, so I can't really say that the patch made it, but I think so.
Anybody tried it before the patch?

I like to see leaderboards as well, but will be just X1 supremacy :indiff:

It works. I purchased an episode of Best Motoring and the download has already finished. There's no Top Gear at the moment though. All in all I'm happy it's up and running.

Wow CCJ thanks for the vid, that looks awesome! We also need this for A-Spec! And not too late... It makes no sense if we get the damage update for A-Spec in 2 months, I dont want to restart the hole game...

I'm actually quite pleased. I'm too used to playing bumper cars in Gran Turismo's single player (guilty confession) but online is a completely different affair. My greatest hope is that they start "premiumizing" cars rather than adding features

I'm impressed with it, I must say. One dink into the barrier at about 30mph and the wheel was wobbling like mad and my car was pulling to the left. A couple more of those and my car would hardly accelerate and all the wheels and suspension were basically screwed.

I would love to see all RUF models be premiumized. Closest thing we will get to a porsche :D

here's a video I made of the online mechanical damage using a premium c63 amg, settings set to high. after the first initial hit, tried to drive in a straight line, the car was pulling to the right.

Had to stop recording for a bit because I had a little hard time to get the left rear to impact the wall (only because it was hard to control, lol) and continued recording when I finally got both rears to turn red. Not sure if this is the maximum damage the car can get, but the damage indicators didn't get any bigger. By this time the car struggled to accelerate and steering was s***.

first impact (sorry a little long)

after all the indicators are flashing red

While I agree it seems likely, it never ceases to amaze me (especially with GT5) how the truth often turns out to be either apparently unreasonable or at least kind of out of left field.

We will see... I really wanted damage across the board so I hope it will be patched in later... just not feeling very certain about it at all.

That said it's good that it's in online mode... I hope it works like it should in that a room of 12 people might have one or two real punters, and while they may take out one or two legit drivers, the end result will be that 10 legit drivers have a 20% chance of being taken out by a punter, but the punters all have a 100% chance of getting damaged and being forced to the back of the pack for the rest of the race. Hopefully they learn the lesson and try to stop being idiots.

You can't say it's typical when this first full game they've released on the PS3. GT5P was essentially a Beta version of GT5. And it wasn't unfinished. Just because there are a lot of updates right out of the gate doesn't mean it's unfinished, it just means they're still working on making a finished game better.

Prologue feels more finished than this "full game" for me. It's full of glitches and bugs to a degree where GT never been.

Regarding the updates, is it all compiled into the latest update? my PS3 isn't connected to the internet at the moment, I am also yet to download any updates currently available. (e.g will I be able to download 1.03 straight away?)

Has anyone tried this in 2p battle? It seems that if the AI is what's holding damage out of A and B spec that there is still no reason it wouldn't make it into 2p battle...
