It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about The Crew 2, the sequel to Ubisoft’s open-world driving game. We do have some news, but unfortunately, it’s not very good.

Just yesterday we learned that GT Sport would be receiving another update at a very unusual time, falling in the early Saturday morning hours for most of the world.

In the days following the launch party for Gran Turismo Sport in Modena, Italy, one of the country’s top engineering schools awarded GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi with an honorary doctorate.

Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo series and Senior Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE).

Gran Turismo games come with big launch parties. For Gran Turismo 5, Polyphony Digital hosted a swanky event in the City Hall of Madrid. The Gran Turismo 6 event was even larger, consuming the entire city of Ronda, Spain and the nearby Ascari Race Resort.

It’s finally here! Today marks the worldwide release of Project CARS 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Slightly Mad Studios’ cross-platform racer. It kicks off a busy season for racing games, releasing just weeks ahead of Forza 7 and GT Sport. From what we experienced in our own hands-on preview, it sets the bar very high.

Yesterday was Sony’s big pre-E3 media briefing. Not only was there a new trailer for GT Sport (and release window), Kazunori Yamauchi was also on hand to discuss the game with the media.

ESPN has produced a special report on 2011 GT Academy champion Jann Mardenborough, which premiered during Sunday’s broadcast of SportsCenter. Even though most GTPlanet readers will be very familiar with Jann’s story, it’s a beautifully produced video that even his most ardent followers will learn something from, and you should definitely go watch it.
