"Welcome to the all new Car of the Month"

23982812376_a7e62fefb0.jpg

Happy New Year! Since it's a new year, how about a new look and new idea for the Car of The Month?

Last month featured the FTO, a car that reminded me of many hours playing GT. Not long ago, in the News section, we got to see a collection of all the Racing Modifications available in that original version thanks to @SlipZtrEm . The image above is one of those and happens to be the first car I ever bought in Gran Turismo. And therefore was likely the first I RM'd. Looking at those images gave me an idea, let's try and recreate the RM, or simply build our own, GT6 style. With front aero, the ability to add or change rear wings/spoilers, upgrade rims and add flat floors, we can build our own.

We should be able to build @SlipZtrEm 's first car -

So this will be the goal, and instead of starting a new thread every month, I will simply edit the title and continue to use this one. So long as the staff allows and interest keeps it going. Each month, January-February-March, will have a new list of cars from the three regions. Japan will be January, but those cars can be tuned/posted and reviewed at any time. The cars from Europe (February) will also be allowed from then on. No time limit restrictions. For April and May, I have two more groups of cars, each group will not be revealed until then. But it will grow the idea much in the way cars get unlocked through gameplay and will continue to increase so to speak. I myself have built and posted many of these cars and call them my Touring Cars. Have built many others not yet posted, but this will force me to finish them off and get them posted.

I also have an idea to help me out with reviews. The biggest shame each month is that not enough people try these tunes, or at least never submit a review. Reviews do not need to long, they can be short and sweet, but I will be posting Leader Board Rankings. For these, I will be using Original Tracks that appeared in the first game. But they will come later as I do not want to totally clutter the first page. More info to come in the next post, along with recommendations on tuning.

So if this sounds inviting, keep reading. Jump in a car and tune it up. But please feel free to test someone else's tune.

Hope to see your Racing Modifications soon.

Tuning:
So here are the parameters, most of the cars listed allow front aero and wings so they should be installed. All cars listed allow flat floors and that must be installed. Remember, we are trying to build our own racing modifications here. Adding number plate would also be recommended but not required. I do ask, for the sake of others buying and building your tunes, that you try not to use Rigidity Improvement or change the oil. This way, the same car can have more than one tune applied to it. I would also ask that you restrict tire choice to either Sports: Soft or Racing: Hard. This will also help with rankings.

Testing and reviewing:
A quick and simply review is all that is required. All tuners would appreciate feedback regardless of how long your feedback response is. However, I do ask that your be respectful in your comments and not take it as an opportunity to flame another member of the community.

Rankings and Leader Boards:
I have chose 4 tracks to be used, Deep Forest (reverse), Trial Mountain, Grand Valley Speedway, and a version of Special Stage R11 as built by @Otaliema (that version can be found https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/resources/ssr-11-gt1-1-5.2916/). To have your time posted, you must give time at which track (can test each car at as many as you wish), tires used and most importantly, has to be another tuner's tune! Sorry, cannot give a time in your own work.

Reminder:
All cars can be tuned/posted even after the month has expired for that group. This way, if you cannot test another tune until weeks later, you can always test it and have your time listed. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Trouble finding SSR11? you can also find it: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gt6/user/#!/friendcrash27wwjd/course/
Or feel free to send me an FR, you can then download it from the community section.

This is not a competition, but totally for fun. Let's keep it that way!

This month will change things up just a bit. Instead of having flat floors, these cars come with preset or adjustable down force at the front and rear. Some do better than others, some are versatile on both tire choices and varying pp ranges. Which will you attempt to tame?

Mine's done. Unfortunately for testers, my RX-7 has rigidity improvement already installed and, well, it's my only and will remain such. May build another for testing without it, shouldn't harm the tune particularly much to run without it (tester's discretion).

Basic tune dates back to like '07 in GT4 and while I tried (and released) several revisions not following the recipe in GT5, I always found my way back to it anyway.

Tune can be found here.

Rigidity Improvement was merely a suggestion, not a banned upgrade, so all is good.

Welcome to fun, hope to get a run in with your tune soon 👍

Question, have you installed the flat floor on this one?

I sure haven't... TBH I haven't put a flat floor on anything yet. And of course I missed the flat floor requirement as I flew threw your original post with excitement! I'll have some time to play today, I'll build a tune with the flat floor and edit the link for the new tune! Sorry for the mix up...

In my opinion, flat floor reduces top speed but improves cornering. Adding it to a car that is already tuned should only require small adjustments. Look forward to the update, just give a shout when you edit.

That was fast, I guess all went really well?

Yeah I started with my old tune as a base then threw it all out the window when I realized just how much more grip was available using the flat floor and RH tires! I had a blast racing threw the International A 550pp championship and tuning as I went! One day I'll own an FRS/BRZ in RL! Love that little car!

Lots of races against race cars these things will qualify for and perform surprisingly well. At least I think so.👍

@Bowtie-muscle I went to download @Otaliema's SSR11 but was sent to my own track collection. Try replacing the "mypage" part of the link to "friend/(psn name)" I'm not sure what that name is for @Otaliema... Then it should work!
You can get it from my page then, let me know if it works.

Edit: actually, that link goes to my page. Click the link after his mention, the one the says here.

Not sure if it was magical rubberbanding in my favor or what exactly, but I just ran a Skyline 370GT in the 15 Minute Apricot Hill race at 550PP on RH tires and won. By 0.080sec, but still. McF1 GTR as the rabbit. Car at present is deadly consistent and at least reasonably quick but has a bit more of a tendency to beat up the outside front than I'd like, so it ain't ready yet. Was actually pretty good on S3s before I went full race on the suspension setup, not the fastest thing in the world but very forgiving. Might need two separate setups for S3s vs R1s though.

Tire selection listed with the tune after pp.
When I get to the leaderboards, each track will have its own post. Each post will be divided between Sports and Racing tires.

There will be tunes posted next month and in March of cars I've used in the GT3 events. Great fun though easy win.

This is an awesome idea for a CotM or few 👍 should bring some real.nice tunes.

I've got a few older tunes with flat floors the I've used in some seasonals and career races. I'll have a gander and fish out any that fit this months criteria :)

I look forward to trying out some others too 👍

Keep in mind, if you are not already aware, that unlike rigidity improvement, the flat floor CAN be removed. Therefore, if you already have a tune for a car listed, you can install it and readjust the tune. It can easily be uninstalled to allow the tune to revert back to original as long as you use a separate settings sheet or have it saved somewhere.

I checked most of the obvious cars for flat floor availability, but there still may be a few that I've missed. Curiously, the '06 SRT10 Viper does not allow it, but the Fisker Karma does . If anyone should stumble across any that I have failed to find, would likely be front wheel drive in Japan region, please let me know. I believe I have U.S. and Europe covered moving forward. But you never know.
